My writing space is a simple desk in the corner of my room. A place where I can put my laptop and write to my heart's content.
Let's take a look at some important points that are worth considering when finding and creating the perfect writing space.
1. Good Lighting
A little light or a lot of light, it depends on your mood and what you can afford, and it can make a huge difference to your comfort level.
2. The Right Tools On-Hand
Having everything you need at your fingertips, this could be writing software to the written-word (books).
3. Comfortable Seating
This could be an office chair or you might have something a bit more ergonomic. You may even have a standing desk.
4. Have Control Over an Music or TV
You may prefer to write with the television in the background, or have some kind of relaxing music playing.
5. A Level of Privacy
Again this is subjective and is down to the writer. Not everyone can write in a coffee shop or open public space.
Let's look at the different environment's writer's prefer to work in.
1. In An Open Space or in a Public Space
As I mentioned earlier some writers have a preference for coffee shops, or libraries, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
2. Using Other Tools that Aren't Your Laptop
Some writer's still prefer using a typewriter or even writing, these can change your writing space, and also give you more freedom as to where you want to write.
3. Using Your Desk Space
Having a desk setup is probably the most popular of all writing spaces and offers privacy, and quiet when needed.
4. Doing Your Writing in the Dark
Writing at night with nothing but a desk lamp can really get your creative juices flowing and help no end with your creativity.
5. Writing Outside
You may prefer the friendly sounds and smells of the outdoors. Grabbing a pad and just going on a walk, finding a bench somewhere and writing down all of your thoughts, or even starting a story in your local park.
The simple truth is you can write wherever you want and whenever you want.
