Hate SEO? A 9 Point Plan to Improve Your Visibility Online

Search Engine Optimization are the three words I struggle with as a writer.  I enjoy putting words on paper and bringing them to life on my computer screen.

The idea of writing a blog post around certain words is pretty horrifying to me.  Cramming keywords can be more detrimental than healthy to any website.

Things have changed since the early inception of the internet.  Making your website stand out and be valuable go hand in hand these days.

In this article I'm going to delve into the world of SEO and show you some simple steps to improve your website rankings.

"Old School" SEO (Search Engine Optimization" is Dead

The tricks people used to use to jump to the front of the queue in Google and other search engines are now frowned upon and valuable content is "King".  Which means that pleasing your site users instead of search engines raises your search ranking for the future.

The Anatomy of SEO

All that said lets look at some simple basics of SEO:

Making Your Website Original

How to make your website be valuable enough for page one of Googles results.

1. Give Valuable Content

Incorporate, high quality, productive, invaluable and unique information.  Focus on what your readers want and give it to them.

2. Let Your Writing Flow Naturally

Longer articles rank higher, so use a natural tone and phrasing to your blog posts.  Don't worry about word counting, just relate what you want to say, then stop.  The top third of your webpage will be scanned by search engines so ensure it content rich.

3. Renew Your Site Content Regularly

Add content a little at a time rather than a lot.  Leaving long pauses between posts will mark your website as "stale".

4. Increase Engagement With Media

Making the most of images and video is an effective way to increase engagement to your website.  Break-up articles with engaging images to hold your readers attention.

5. Make Your Site Social Media Friendly

Incorporate social media on your website.  Visitors prefer content shared in their own social media circle.  The greater your following the higher your content will appear in the search results.  Make it accessible to both your followers and visitors to share your content with their followers and friends.

Using Simple Website Design

6. Create Navigational Links

Search engines love navigational links, they form a path for visitors and search engines to follow from page to page.  Make sure you  have at least one link that relates to another blog post.

7. Enhance the User Experience

Make your site navigation natural, create an environment that's easy for people to find the information they're looking for.  Search engines rank engagement and what visitors do while they're on a website.

Using Suitable Keywords

Use keywords strategically and naturally.

8. Focus on Specific Themes

Make clear distinctions about what topics you cover on your website.  Don't make it a random mess of pages, because search engines will ignore most them.  You can use tools such as Google Keyword Planner to brainstorm new keyword ideas and see the competition you'll have.

9. Add a Relevant Keyword in Your Page Title

This will help with your website ranking, just don't over do it.
